The short answer is Yes! Fall is in the air and pumpkins are abound!! Seen on nearly every door stoop and in every supermarket, growing on many acres of farm land all to satiate our affinity for these fine berries. Yes, you read right! Often thought of as a fruit, sometimes as a vegetable, but in truth these fine orange specimens are berries. Another little known fact of pumpkins is: they are chalked full of skin purifying nutrients and vitamins!!!

Two years ago someone came to us proposing the idea to take Recherché Products down to Antarctica for a season. Before the sentence could fully leave their mouth our answer was “Yes”! We know that our products are good for dry and arid climates, after all we are based in MT, but what would we learn if they were used this type of climate, under polar harsh conditions?  As all good things do, this project took some time to get underway, but beauties, the results are in.  Below is her account of using Recherché at the bottom of the world. 

Occasionally we are asked the question of why we use preservatives in our organic and natural products. This is a question that I love to answer. Let me take a moment to explain why Recherché Organics chooses to use a full spectrum preservative in our organic, fair trade, hand crafted products. Below you will find the answers to many of the most pressing questions that we are asked. 

Being an entrepreneur is hard, there are endless to do lists, long days, occasionally even longer nights. The coordination of people and things, it’s a continuous balancing act, and the number of hat’s I wear on any given day rivals that of any hat makers hat store. But here’s the thing, this long and winding road has brought out the best in me (and occasionally the worst). It has instilled confidence and know how, leadership skills and the ability to manage people. I have learned to run systems, build micro-communities, and delegate what I cannot or should not be doing. And most importantly it has taught me time management, and commitment to my dreams and ideas. 

Garcinia indica is a tropical evergreen tree that grows to a height of 50 or more feet. It is uniquely found in both wet and relatively dry regions, and is widely spread throughout Africa and India. This tree is found mostly wild and when cultivated it is done only on a very small scale. Kokum trees do not require irrigation, spraying of pesticides or fertilizers due to the fact that they are naturalized to this region of the world. Early in the year, Kokum fruits are tender and green, ripening to a deep reddish purple as harvest time nears. These precious fruits are in the height of harvest through out April and May of each year. A single mature tree has the ability to bear hundreds of fruit each year. 

Argan Oil, a luscious light weight oil grown from the Argania spinosa tree, found only in South West Morocco. This ecologically small area of native growth, is in part is what makes this vitamin rich oil so special, the arid climate happens to be the perfect growing environment for this splendid tree. And in turn, this tall tree provides much needed shade for the sunbaked area and the Berber people that inhabit this pocket of the world.

This term is a derivative from the Latin words Hydro meaning water and sol meaning solutions. Hydrosols are the steam distilled water byproduct of the essential oil making process. Sometimes also called floral waters, herbal distillates, hydroflorates, these aromatic waters are filled with all of the water soluble components of the plant being distilled. Highly 
therapeutic and filled with beneficial properties, hydrosols contain about 5% essential oil, making them a more mild, but not less efficient form than their counterpart pure essential oils. What does this mean? It means that these waters are gentle enough for both children and people with immune compromised systems, individuals with sensitive skin and people who want the “whole” distillate. 

Coconut oil is quite possibly the most widely used natural oil on the beauty and skincare market today. Though gaining vast notoriety, it has been used trans globally, in countries near the equator, for thousands of years. There is evidence that coconut oil has been used as food, medicine, and skin, hair and nail health for a very long time. So it is not surprising that we see it used in a similar fashion today.
